Mayor of the City of Johannesburg - Help with the Noise Pollution

Mayor of the City of Johannesburg
Pollution is everywhere sadly and we are all challenged to do our part to keep our world clean. Noise pollution is often overlooked but like any other pollution is a disturbance and causes disease. See the following link: www.thehealthsite.com/diseases-conditions/hearing-loss/how-noise-pollution-affects-your-health-631361/
Alamein road on the north entrance of the Southdale shopping center is a good example. Taxi's hoot for their clients from morning to night... however their clients are on their way already, want to travel and hooting won't change that for the better. What hooting does do however, is create a background noise that will make any valid warning hoots from other citizens ineffective. A child crossing the road may not notice a life saving warning above the cacophony.
Citizens have the right to live and work in peace without disturbance. In Alamein road are two healthcare buildings, one medical and the other veterinary who are affected all day by the noise making working difficult.
Some taxis drive down Alamein road at high speed while leaning on their hooters - making an unnecessary and illegal noise. It is against the bylaws of the City of Johannesburg to hoot for clients. Others will stop at the exit to the Southdale shopping center and hoot for many minutes on end. Others still will drive down Alamein road, hooting and looking backwards in case they spot another customer!
See extract below from the bylaws.
