Bangladesh: Vote for girls not brides
To all members of the Bangladesh Parliament:
As global citizens concerned about women’s rights and the high rates of child marriage in Bangladesh, we call on you to reject the 'special provisions' in the new Child Marriage Restraint Act that would allow child marriage if a girl becomes pregnant “accidentally” or “illegally”, or where a marriage would protect her ‘honour’. Such a provision would legitimise young girls being raped and encourage the practice of child marriage. Vote for girls - not brides.

The vote is days away but local opposition is fierce and growing. Locals tell us that the publicity of a global outcry and media storm could kill the law -- which allows child marriage in cases of 'accidental pregnancy' -- for good.
Let's put the power of the world's largest global online community behind the girls of Bangladesh. If enough of us sign, our voices will be delivered straight into Parliament before the vote. Add your name.
