Break up Big Tech!

To European Commissioner Teresa Ribera and President Ursula von der Leyen:

As global citizens, we call on you to break up Google’s monopoly over digital advertising and take broader action to dismantle the excessive power of Big Tech across the digital economy. Your action can trigger a chain reaction across the world and help restore fair competition, protect consumers and defend our democracies.

Break up Big Tech!
Imagine you’re playing a card game. Everyone places their bets without knowing each other’s hands. But one player gets to peek at everyone’s cards before making their move, winning every round. That’s how Google has been dominating the online ad market. Doesn’t seem fair, right?

The European Commission just found the tech giant guilty of using this kind of unfair advantage, and Google now has to pay a fine of €2.95 billion. But this fight is about far more than Google. Trump keeps threatening tariffs every time the EU dares to enforce its own digital laws, and Silicon Valley is fighting against legislation against monopolies.

Now, Europe has a choice: enforce its laws fully, and seize this moment to tackle Big Tech’s stranglehold, or go soft and continue to let a handful of billionaires trap us in a lousy online environment.

This is a unique moment to show that Google, Meta & Co. are not above the law: a US court found Google guilty of the same violations, while UK, Canada, and Australia are going in the same direction. Together, we can make sure European decision-makers are at the forefront of a global uprising to hold Big Tech accountable. Partners will plaster our demands everywhere in the heart of Brussels.
