Imagine you’re playing a card game. Everyone places their bets without knowing each other’s hands. But one player gets to peek at everyone’s cards before making their move, winning every round. That’s how Google has been dominating the online ad market. Doesn’t seem fair, right?

The European Commission just found the tech giant guilty of using this kind of unfair advantage, and Google now has to pay a fine of €2.95 billion. But this fight is about far more than Google.
