Rajoy: Resign now
Rajoy: Resign now

To EU leaders:

Whatever our views on the referendum in Catalonia and its legality, we all agree on one thing: the violent repression we witnessed on Sunday is repugnant, and the brutal police deployment ordered by Mariano Rajoy's government proves his inability as a leader of a democratic country. We ask you to urge Rajoy to resign immediately. The chaos and disproportionate police intervention in Catalonia on Sunday crossed a red line for democracy that cannot be tolerated.

Yesterday police in Spain battered grandmothers with batons, dragged people by the hair from voting areas, shot crowds with rubber bullets...more than 900 people were injured.

This is shameful -- and it must stop right now!

Whatever our views on the referendum and the responsibilities on both sides of the conflict, we can all agree that this violence is repugnant and the brutal police deployment ordered by Mariano Rajoy’s government proves his failure as a leader of a democratic country.

Let’s come together and demand European leaders and institutions step in and pressure President Rajoy to resign.
