EU: Stop animal torture
To EU Agriculture Commissioner Hogan, members of the EU Council and Parliament, and all EU agriculture ministers:
As citizens concerned about mistreatment across farms and slaughterhouses we call on you to crack down on abuses and strengthen controls. We urge you to prioritise Animal Welfare Payments so that higher environmental and animal welfare standards are rewarded, and make animal welfare improvement a compulsory objective and priority of the Common Agricultural Policy -- public funds should not prop up animal suffering.

And who pays to prop up this failing system? All of us!
Cows are attacked with hundreds of electric shocks, pigs live in filth alongside dead and dying piglets, calves are bludgeoned to death with hammers -- the way our food and agriculture industry works is broken, but kept afloat by taxpayer’s money.
It’s crazy! But it’s also our best chance to fix the system: Every year, the EU channels *billions* of our money into agriculture under the Common Agricultural Policy -- and now that policy is coming up for review! A million-strong call to stop our money propping up torture can pressure EU decision-makers to prioritise animal welfare and end the abuse. Join now.
