To Wavel Ramkalawan, President of Seychelles :

Save Aldabra's pristine turtle paradise. We urge you not to allow the Qatari-funded resort on nearby Assumption Island.

Save the giant tortoise paradise
In the heart of the Indian ocean, there is a pristine paradise, home to the largest population of giant tortoises on earth. Some of them live up to 200 years!

It’s far from humans – but greed could ruin it all.

A Qatari fund plans to turn a nearby untouched coral island into a luxury playground for yachts, private jets, and wealthy tourists—just miles away from the protected area. And scientists are alarmed: knock-on effects of this development could devastate the delicate ecosystem, threatening the 150,000 tortoises that rely on this undisturbed sanctuary to live and reproduce.

But there’s still time to act! The plan to expand the resort is still under review by the Seychelles authorities. Let’s raise our voices and stop this project to protect these incredible tortoises and their habitat.
