The world needs a Green Dream Team

To the leaders of Brazil, China and Europe:

As concerned global citizens we urge you to stand with Africa and facedown the USA and other countries looking to wreck climate talks and our planet. We call on you to save and strengthen the Kyoto protocol and work together to agree a more ambitious legally binding deal no later than 2015. Our climate is in crisis, our future depends on your leadership now.

The world needs a Green Dream Team

Climate talks in South Africa are sleepwalking towards disaster. Unless a green dream team of key countries takes the lead now, a group of selfish nations will sign Africa’s death certificate.

Just over a year ago, a colourful international spirit of friendship was celebrated at Africa’s first World Cup. But at the current climate talks, no trace of that spirit remains. Instead a perfect storm of ruthless self-interest is blowing, concocted by trio of dirty countries -- the US, Canada, and Japan -- who have turned their backs on Africa and a climate deal. The world desperately needs a new green dream team to come to the aid of Island and African nations and light the way forward to a brighter future.

There is still hope -- China, Brazil and Europe have the substance to be champions, but none of them have stepped into the leadership role of taking on the blockers and brokering an agreement. It’s up to us to energise them with people power -- let’s build a massive global cheer behind our Green Dream Team so they can emerge victorious at the Durban climate summit. Sign the petition on the right and forward it widely, it will be delivered in at the climate talks in South Africa:
