VICTORY FOR WHALES!

Avaaz hard-hitting ad campaign and petition delivery at the IWC summit in Agadir, Morocco -- and other recent highlights from our people-powered campaigns.
It's been an incredible few weeks -- we built the biggest whale-saving petition in history signed by 1.2 million of us worldwide, delivered it to negotiators at the Morocco summit -- and helped stop the effort to legalise whale hunting for profit.

Australian environment minister Peter Garrett received our petition there, saying "Thank you very much Avaaz... I believe the people of the world’s voices need to be heard".

The US delegation greeted us -- "Avaaz! We saw your billboard at the airport!" After we won, one European negotiator ally told us: "We've managed to keep the ban in place... I was very impressed".

This is an important victory for whales -- and for global people power. What we do works. But Japan is already set to continue killing whales for "scientific" reasons. We need to strengthen and reform the International Whaling Commission, and to mobilise a progressive public in countries with pro-whaling governments.

Let's all chip in if we can -- 6000 of us are already giving a regular donation! Help fund campaigning in Japan and other key nations -- donate now using the form below:
