Support the creation of a Skatepark in Thessaloniki, Greece!

Thessaloniki bares a long and significant history in skateboarding. It is located at the edge of the Balkan Peninsula and has been a skate able destination for many skaters from all over the world. Many local talents have achieved European or even global recognition and fans of the sport carry the flame from generation to generation even without a skatepark. In August 2020 skateboarding will be introduced in the Olympic Games hosted in Tokyo and greeks are far behind the global ranking because of the lack of facilities and organised clubs and association. We seek for the support of everyone across the world who has visited Thessaloniki or not, to sign the petition and push the government and local administration in the creation of a proper and up to date concrete skatepark where future generations will take an equal opportunity in participation as every kid in most European Countries. The Skatepark will become an asset of community value allowing youth to be involved in roller sports and bmx in a safe environment. Of course the climate of Greece in combination with the location of the city, combined with a brand new skatepark, can be an additional reason for youth travellers to visit Thessaloniki, achieving this way a raise in tourism and a cultural exchange between young people who want to be involved in this sports and be inspired by other fellow athletes and skaters. It is not only the olympics that make the need for a skatepark necessary, but most of all it is the opportunity that people will have to be introduced in this sports and gradually create a stronger community involved, influenced and improved as persons by the simple rule defined by the Ancient Greek phrase "healthy mind and healthy body" in a modern and "on board" way. Therefore we will work hand in hand with the city to find the right location and the adequate resources for the construction.
