Después de casi 40 años las víctimas y familiares de las víctimas de
una de las más grandes masacres ocurridas en Latinoamérica,
en la que murieron más de mil personas, en su mayoría niños y niñas, siguen sin obtener justicia. La actual Asamblea Legislativa y el Ejecutivo salvadoreño aprobaron reformas a la Ley de la Carrera Judicial, cesando al juez Jorge Guzmán, quien presidió el caso desde su reapertura en 2016 cuando se declaró inconstitucional la Ley de Amnistía. Ahora la posibilidad de que el crimen quede impune es todavía más grande.
A la fecha han fallecido cerca de 74 personas familiares de víctimas o sobrevivientes que esperaban una resolución a su caso ¿Cuántas personas más morirán sin ver justicia?
El tiempo se acaba, firma esta petición para mostrar tu apoyo y solidaridad con las personas de El Mozote, y para exigir justicia al presidente, la Asamblea Legislativa y la Corte Suprema de Justicia de El Salvador. 2021 pudo ser el año en que las víctimas y los sobrevivientes de la masacre finalmente verían honrada la memoria de sus seres queridos a través de una reparación real y garantías de no repetición. Sin embargo, los ataques a la independencia judicial han retrasado el proceso. Hoy más que nunca las víctimas de El Mozote necesitan de tu solidaridad. En El Salvador, esto no se trata solo de la justicia demorada para los sobrevivientes, sino de una prueba del control civil sobre el Ejército.

After almost 40 years, the victims and victims' families of one of the largest massacres in Latin America , in which more than a thousand people were murdered, most of them children, have not obtained justice. The current Legislative Assembly and the Salvadoran Executive branch approved reforms to the Law of the Judicial Career, dismissing Judge Jorge Guzmán, who presided over the case since its reopening in 2016 when the Amnesty Law was declared unconstitutional. Now the possibility of the crime going unpunished is even greater.
To date, about 74 family members of victims or survivors who were waiting for a resolution to their case have died, how many more will die without seeing justice?
Time is running out, sign this petition to show your support and solidarity with the people of El Mozote, and to demand justice from the President, the Legislative Assembly, and the Supreme Court of Justice. 2021 could have been the year that the victims and survivors of the massacre would finally see the memory of their loved ones honored through real reparation and guarantees of non-repetition.
