Second UN global ceasefire for 2021.

A present historical tipping point, Spring 2020, in pushing back the ancient Plague of War - During this global covid-19 pandemic the UN Secretary-General issued (3/23/20)  a global ceasefire and is having some success (fighters in 12  countries pulling back (UN 4/4/20). Now is the time to have the UN declare a one-year global ceasefire for 2021 by extending their two-month UN 2021 Olympic Truce by 10 months. Humanity needs a year to embrace the Olympic Spirit given the hardship that covid-19 is bringing in 2020. An Olympic Truce Year will bring humanity together after this shared pandemic tragedy. Then comes the summer celebration of the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics celebrating competition, not combat.

The global movement, A Year Without War, has been attempting to secure a UN global truce since 2011. We are primarily college students with some professors but followers from around the world. The present pandemic has moved the UN in our A Year Without War direction. We are facing an historical tipping point.

If Avaaz embraces this 2021 UN Global Truce campaign, then, once passed, the Avaaz community can enforce signatory nations to keep their public, formal truce commitment. Finally, people of the world, given this new technology, can directly enforce  their common desire for a global ceasefire. WE CAN DO THIS!! TIP HISTORY! A FIRST STEP FOR HUMANITY ON THE LONG ROAD TO WAR ABOLITION!
