Belgium: Stop the next Chernobyl

To the Belgian Prime Minister, Charles Michel, to the Interior Minister, Jan Jambon, to members of the Parliament and all concerned Ministers in Belgium and in the European Union:

As concerned citizens we ask you to confirm the previous decision to shut down the Belgian reactors in Doel and Tihange based on the safety concerns caused by the numerous leaks, cracks, and even sabotage attempts to those plants, and as requested by our own nuclear safety chief and independent experts. Furthermore, we ask that a trans-boundary impact assessment is done so that our neighbours in Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and citizens elsewhere in Europe feel secure. Public safety comes first.

Belgium: Stop the next Chernobyl

Experts say Europe could be facing the biggest risk of nuclear disaster since Chernobyl, after two old and cracked nuclear plants right here in Belgium were just restarted.

One of the aging reactors suffered a fire and explosion weeks ago and Belgium's own nuclear safety chief called for checks after discovering 16,000 cracks! Citizens are beginning to take to the streets on the Dutch and German borders in protest -- and there could be a crack in the majority in Parliament as well -- MPs from CD&V have expressed concerns in the past, and if they hear a massive roar of public concern from around Belgium, we can force them to stop this reckless plan.

We are running against time. Sign now to stop the next Chernobyl and make this moment a turning point in the battle for clean and safe energy for all, then share with everybody on Facebook, Twitter, email...and everywhere.
