The Last European Forest

To Environmental Commissioner Karmenu Vella:

As citizens across Europe we ask you to do everything you can to stop the logging of Bialowieza Forest, a beautiful UNESCO heritage on the Polish-Belarusian border. The Polish Ministry of Environment approved the logging, although, it is breaking European Commission its rules on protecting the environment. The current investigation might take too long, we need to act now!

The Last European Forest
Poland just approved the logging of Europe’s last remaining primeval woodland. But we can stop the chainsaws before it’s too late.

Polish and European law should protects the bison, wolves, and countless birds who live in Białowieża and that’s why the Polish government is being investigated and taken to court. But many trees will be felled before those processes conclude -- if we really want to save the forest, we need to push the Environmental Commissioner Vella to act now.

Years ago the same Polish Minister wanted to carve a highway through this precious valley, a major public protest got the EC to intervene and block it. We can do the same again -- sign to protect this precious sanctuary of wildlife. Sign the petition calling for the Commissioner to stop the logging, we’ll deliver to him in front of all EU environment ministers next week.
