Free Qatar’s modern-day slaves

To Hassan Abdullah Al-Thawadi, Secretary-General, Supreme Committee for Qatar 2022, and to Jacqueline Hinman, CEO, CH2M Hill:

As global citizens, we're appalled by the conditions migrant workers in Qatar are forced to work under for the 2022 World Cup. We urge the Supreme Committee and CH2M Hill to put in place a public policy that ensures every worker on World Cup sites can keep their passports, are granted exit visas, and protected with basics rights and safeties. We also call on the Qatari government to reform its "guest" worker program and allow any foreign labourer the right to return home. Qatar and CH2M Hill’s reputations hang in the balance.

Free Qatar’s modern-day slaves
Forced to work under the desert’s scorching sun, denied food, drinking water, and barred from escaping home, thousands of workers in Qatar are modern day slaves. But we can help free them.

Last year, more than one labourer died every other day building a billion dollar mega-project for Qatar's 2022 World Cup - and this is just the beginning. The Qatari government has hired a US company to manage a major part of this project for the next nine years. If 1 million of us stand together to demand their freedom, Avaaz staff can confront the CEO with our voice in her quiet Colorado home town every time she leaves her house, goes to work, or goes skiing, until she takes action.

We know it can work -- this same tactic persuaded Hilton Hotels to act against sex trafficking in days. Join the urgent call to help get Qatar's slaves the freedom to return home.
