A genocide we can stop

We call on you to impose a strong package of sanctions - including asset freezes and travel bans - on all government and rebel leaders stoking the violence in South Sudan, and to authorize a regional peacekeeping force with the goal of enabling full humanitarian access to affected areas.

A genocide we can stop

Hundreds of terrified men, women and children sought refuge in their local hospital, church and mosque. All in vain: hours later, piles of corpses were lying outside. South Sudan is fast becoming a genocidal time bomb -- but in days we have a unique chance to defuse it once and for all.

What started as a power struggle between former government allies has now exploded into a Rwanda-like spiral of hate propaganda, mass mutilations, rape and murders by militias.
Politicians from both sides are cynically stoking the violence -- many of these leaders have homes and bank accounts in other countries, sostrong global action targeting their assets could force them to stop fueling this nightmare.

The next days are crucial -- with peace talks resuming next week, the US and France are calling on the UN Security Council to impose sanctions, and the last thing China wants is to see their oil investments threatened by chaos. Let's take advantage of this perfect storm of opportunity and flood key global leaders with 1 million voices urging them to save the people of South Sudan. Join now.
