First they trashed the Amazon

To John S. Watson, Chevron CEO:

It's time to stop evading justice and instead focus all Chevron's efforts on cleaning up the Ecuadorian Amazon. Instead, the company is using subpoenas to bully people who care deeply about the Amazon and its people. Please pay the court determined settlement and stop trying to spy on environmentalists.

First they trashed the Amazon
First they trashed the Amazon. Then they refused to pay compensation despite a court order. Now they are spying on brave volunteers fighting to bring them to justice. It’s time to stop Chevron and together we might just do it.

Indigenous people in Ecuador have been fighting for decades to clean up their rainforest homeland where Chevron admits it dumped nearly 16 billion gallons of toxic waste. Judges finally ruled in their favour, but Chevron is using every trick in the book to avoid paying for their mess. The latest corporate ploy is to demand the Internet records of 100 environmentalists -- for the last nine years -- to prove a conspiracy against them! Let’s tell Chevron to focus on what matters and take care of the damaged forest.

Chevron won’t pay to clean up its mess, but it is paying through the nose to rehabilitate its image. So let’s hit them where it hurts. When one million of us join the call, Avaaz will take out hard hitting billboards near their gas stations worldwide. Click to sign and share.
