SAY NO TO THE SECOND PAY RAISE FOR BEACONSFIELD COUNCIL IN THREE YEARS
Beaconsfield City Council is set to raise their salaries and allowance by 33% this November 2018, on top of a 40% increase they voted for themselves in 2015. When this Mayor ran in 2013 his salary was about $43,000. Making the Mayor's salary close to $80,000 per year and councillors $30,000. 70% increase in 3 years. The Mayor claimed on the news that he was underpaid. Why not say so during the election campaign less than a year ago, especially since he knew exactly what the job entailed and the money involved. Beaconsfield City has had no significant increase in revenues in at least a decade. Last year the City Council chose to use the surplus/savings to pay the $1 million extra tax payment imposed by the Montreal bringing the agglomeration payment to $22 million on a $40 million revenue.
