The Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina , The petition will also be delivered to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Hague and the Office of the Prime Minister, London.
Like indigenous communities worldwide, the “Jumma” peoples in Bangladesh are being targeted and evicted from their ancestral lands by the Government, settlers, and the army.

The Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord was signed in 1997 to promote peace and to protect its indigenous population.

Today, almost 15 years later, it remains unfulfilled and the persecution of indigenous peoples has continued. We note with concern how violence, including rape and physical attacks against the indigenous Jumma has been escalating this year.

We are disturbed that this Government has taken regressive steps that work against the essence of the Accord, including the refusal of giving constitutional recognition to indigenous groups.

With the elections coming up in Bangladesh there is a great fear that the peace accord will remain unimplemented and that the situation will only worsen in the future, threatening the peace and existence of the indigenous peoples in Bangladesh!
