Valéria F.
started this petition to André Puccinelli, GOVERNOR of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil,
JUSTIÇA FEDERAL DO BRASIL
Read below the distress letter of the Guarani-Kaiowá community. Indigenous of the Guarani-Kaiowá tribe are under serious risk of genocide, with total omission of local and national media and consent from the government. If you're aware that this blood cannot be spilled, sign this petition. Demand media coverage of the case and urgent action from the government of President Dilma and Governor André Puccinelli so that they prevent such killings and the extinction of these Indigenous people.
"As members of the Guarani-Kaiowá community originally from Tekoha Pyelito Kue / Mbrakay (50 men, 50 women, 70 children), in this letter we share our history, and our final decision in regards to the eviction order issued by the Federal Court of Navirai-MS, Case No. 0000032-87.2012.4.03.6006 on September 29, 2012
The way we interpret this news is that our community will soon be attacked, abused, and forcibly removed from riverbank by the Federal Court of Navirai, MS. It is quite clear to us that the Federal Court's action will create and accelerate the attacks against us, ignoring our rights to survive by the side of the river, and close to our traditional territory Pyelito Kue / Mbarakay.
Thus, we understand clearly that this decision of the Federal Court of Navirai-MS is part of the history of genocide and extermination of us historic native indigenous people of MS / Brazil, and that this latest action from the Federal Court is intended to attack, and exterminate us. We want to make clear to the Government and the Federal Court that we have now lost all hope of surviving with dignity, and without violence in our ancient territory, and no longer believe in the Brazilian Justice system.
To whom can we denounce the violence committed against our lives? To which court in Brazil, when the Federal Court itself is fueling violence against us? We have evaluated our current situation, and have concluded that we will all die very soon, as currently we don't have any prospect of a dignified life, either far way from here, on the riverbank. We've been camped out here 50 meters from the Hovy river, and we've seen four deaths, two by suicide, and two of us tortured and murdered by paid gunment of the local ranchers. We have been living on the banks of this river for over a year, isolated, without any assistance, surrounded by gunmen, and yet still resisting until today. We have only one meal per day. This is our struggle to recover our territory ancient territory Pyleito Kue / Mbarakay.
Here in the heart of our territory several of our grandparents and great-grandparents are buried, this is the cemetery of our ancestors. Acutely aware of this historical fact, our desire is to die here, and be buried here, with our ancestors, right where we are today. So we ask the Government and the Federal Court not to bother with the eviction, but rather ask that you authorize our collective death, and allow us all to be buried here. We ask, once and for all, that the court declares our total extinction, and sends several bulldozers here to dig a hole big enough to bury us all inside. This is our request to the federal judiciary.
We now await this decision from the Federal Court, to authorize and declare the collective death of our Guarani tribe, and bury us all here. We have decided not to leave here, dead or alive, as we have no chance of surviving with dignity here in our territory. We have already suffered massacres, and our tribe is dying out fast. We know we will soon be driven away from the riverbank by the Federal Justice, but we will not move. As a historical indigenous native people, we have decided to stay here, and die together. We have no other option, please consider this our final and unanimous statement in regards to the decision of the Federal Court of Navirai-MS.
