Myron Ebell, Director of the EPA and Alex Azar, US Secretary of Health and Human Services: Change laws regarding mercury and ban it from common products and medical treatments

Mercury is a very toxic substance, which has serious effects on both human health and the environment. Inhalation of mercury vapours can cause harmful effects on the nervous, digestive and immune systems. It can also cause neurological and behavioural disorders, and symptoms such as insomnia, memory loss, neuromuscular effects, headaches, cognitive and motor dysfunction. Within the environment, mercury vapour can travel long distances before settling into the atmosphere where it bio‐accumulates, further increasing the odds of contamination.The UNEP Minamata Convention on Mercury comes into effect globally in 2020, and bans all production, importation and exportation of measuring instruments (thermometers, barometers, etc.) containing mercury. The Minamata Convention on Mercury agreement is a global treaty to eliminate the use of mercury, in the interest of protecting both human health and the environment from the adverse effects of mercury. It was agreed upon at the 5th session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee in Geneva, in January 2013. So then, how can we still let companies use mercury in so many of their products?So why do we still find it in vaccines, amalgam cavity fillings and light bulbs? This is not a conspiracy, this is simply a fact. Please add your voice to ours so that the government changes all laws regarding mercury and bans it completely from common products and medical treatments. If scientific experts from the Minamata Convention ask to ban mercury because of its toxicity on human health, we believe our government should institute the same rules for household products and medical treatments. We ask the government to remove any form of mercury from vaccines, dental amalgams, light bulbs and any products or medical treatments related to humans.
