CALLING ALL WRITERS & AUTHORS
Who believe in Truth & Integrity in the Written Word.
Do you feel that we have reached an era where so much of truth has been diminished?
In fact, in 2019, a tipping point has been reached where the misinformation and distortion in content is not only causing confusion, but also taking Humanity backwards.
It is damaging societies and democratic institutions. In response, social media platforms have announced actions to limit the spread of false content. Thus, the widespread misinformation on social media is foremost in the minds of many.
However, social media is simply one portion of this looming iceberg of information. There is so much that is written, be it on digital or print material. We have reached a point that we begin to question. How do we know what we read is true?
In a year alone, 2.6 billion books are sold (source : EBookFriendly). The exponential proliferation of text is a sign that each of us is left to search for the fragments of truth (or more often than not, mindless entertainment) in our frantic, scattered regimen of reading each year.
Misinformation is stealing the trust that was originally there. The trust lost in the information that we read, leading to the trust lost with experts and authorities. Ultimately, trust lost with the common man.
CALL FOR ACTION : An Urgency to shift into Truth as falsities plague much of the Written Word today.
Whether you write books, articles, offline or on social media or even news-feeds), we invite you to come together on a Writer's Pledge for the world.
It is time for the Writers of the World to come together to show that we can stand in truth and integrity in the written word. Through a unified pledge for truth, we set an example for the rest to follow.
PLEDGE OF THE WRITERS OF THE NEW WORLD
"To cultivate a bond of integrity,
Honoring myself, you, and others
As Authors of the World.
I will write and act in Truth and Courage
So that I can do more in spreading knowledge
And conducting acts of Greater Good.
I will take a stand
For our rights, safety, well-being
Ensuring that we shift away
From distorted information and fake news
That have skewed the world.
I will respect the wisdom
That we all bring together
And act on it in the real world -
So that we can create better communities
Based on kindness and respect.
I will stand for choosing being good
And to portray the beauty of its goodness
Through the power of the written word.
And finally, I join forces
With millions of other Writers
As we allow Truth to set us free."
