Appeal to stop work on the Mobility Package

started this petition to
European Parliament
Work on the Mobility Package, i.e., the EU regulations on road transport, unfavorable for carriers from all over Europe, is coming to an end. It could be the first step towards the abolishment of one of the pillars of the European Union.
The Mobility Package, in its key provisions, is nothing but bureaucratic shackles for the freedom to provide and the free flow of services in the European Union - it is destroying one of the fundamental pillars on which the European community was built. Today, in the age of pandemic and the ongoing recession, continuing work on these provisions is particularly dangerous for the future of the European Union. We observe that countries that should be areal community are seeking division, which may aggravate the economic crisis.
The spread of coronavirus has a profound impact on the transport industry. Companies suspend or close their activities. The prevailing crisis and the ongoing recession will limit transport activities. We cannot allow this final, lethal blow to come from those who have been called to serve on behalf of all European citizens and businesses.
The scale of coronavirus's impact on the global economy is difficult to predict. Many companies will close down. In overcoming the difficult economic situation, we currently witness, road transport should be the leverage.
The Mobility Package is the first step to completely abolish one of the four fundamental freedoms of the European Union - the free movement of services. We believe that its entry into force in its current form is a wrong and harmful solution. In the age of coronavirus, we need reasonable solutions, not obstacles.
We urge the European Parliament to abandon further work on the Mobility Package as it stands. These provisions require a rereview and correction, taking into account the voice of all representatives of the European Union.
