Gushing Sewage: Save the Vaal!
To Edna Molewa, Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs:
Water is one of the most precious resources we have in this country -- and it is already under severe pressure. As citizens of South Africa, we are alarmed by the construction of a pipeline that would pump raw sewage into the Vaal dam, a resource that supplies 12 million people with water every day. We call on you to save the Vaal by urgently reviewing the project and cancelling the pipeline for good.

The dam is a critical water resource for people across the region and a last refuge for fish eagles, duiker, and delicate aquatic life. But it’s on a knife’s edge: pollution is already a serious problem and this pipeline could be the tipping point, causing a serious health hazard and poisoning the ecosystem.
Let’s unite to block the pipeline -- together we can give this monster project the media publicity it deserves, pushing the Minister for Water and Environmental Affairs to cancel the construction for good. Under mounting pressure to safeguard our water in the face of drought, she can’t afford a media storm swirling around her name.
Time is short -- in a matter of days the pipeline could reach the water’s edge -- sign now and share widely.
