Expose the "dark side" of the Galaxy

To Lee Kun-hee, Chairman of Samsung, and all companies sourcing cobalt from the Democratic Republic of Congo:

We are appalled by revelations that cobalt used in the production of your company's products may involve child labour in the Congo -- as citizens and consumers, we will not stand by while profits are put ahead of the lives of children. We call on you to investigate and disclose any instance of child labour in your supply chain, and ensure offending suppliers are punished and made to compensate victims. We also call on you to use your company's influence to push the DRC government to make good on its commitment to address child labour throughout the country.

Expose the "dark side" of the Galaxy

Children as young as 7 are inhaling toxic dust that can lead to fatal lung disease -- to extract cobalt, a mineral used in rechargeable cell phone batteries. But with Samsung release of its latest cobalt-powered handset, we have a chance to get to the bottom of this tragic situation.

Samsung's financial results are down, and they desperately need their new Galaxy S7 to be a smash hit. It boasts the longest battery life ever -- yet the children in the Congo who may have helped create it will likely face an early death. So far Samsung refuses to cooperate to ensure that their cobalt supply chain is free of child labour.
