Don't mine the Grand Canyon

To President Obama and Secretary of Interior Jewell:

The Grand Canyon is one of the wonders of the world, not a tailing pond for toxic mine waste. Please protect the Grand Canyon from uranium mining forever by designating the Greater Grand Canyon Heritage National Monument as America’s next national monument.

Don't mine the Grand Canyon
I'm a member of the Havasupai Indian Tribe -- for centuries, we've called the land at the bottom of the Grand Canyon our home.

Now we're fighting to keep the uranium mines that have littered the area from poisoning us and the sacred Grand Canyon.

Four years ago, we won a hard-fought moratorium that prevents new uranium mines above our canyon home. But the industry is pushing to roll back the moratorium and dig on our ancestral land. We've asked President Obama to protect the Grand Canyon for good, but he needs to hear from everyone if we're going to overcome pressure from rich mining companies.

This is our best chance to safeguard this natural wonder forever. Join us in asking President Obama to create the Greater Grand Canyon Heritage National Monument an
d stop uranium mines from destroying this priceless gem.
