Ebola Emergency Action Now!

To EU Presidents and World Leaders:

With the deadly Ebola virus continuing to tear through West Africa, we only have a few weeks to contain this epidemic. As global citizens we urge you to swiftly ensure all the personnel, equipment and funding required to halt the outbreak are made available immediately, before this epidemic causes further suffering, death and devastation across West Africa, and beyond.

Ebola Emergency Action Now!
Today, a sick woman could bang on the door of one of the few Ebola Treatment Units in Liberia with her last breath of strength only to be turned away to die and likely infect her family as there aren’t enough beds. This tragedy is being repeated across West Africa. It is a global shame and unless governments act now, it will become a global threat!

We know they can do this right -- the response to disasters like Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and the 2010 Haiti earthquake were swift and well funded. The Ebola response is a disgrace -- only heroic frontline organisations and local health workers are saving lives, and while some countries are finally moving and pledges have been made, a few of the richest nations have committed fewer medics than the number of brave Avaaz volunteers!

This inaction is dangerous -- Ebola knows no borders and the window to contain this disaster is closing. But our governments have not yet felt the public pressure to act. Let’s urgently demand all our governments move from pathetic pledges to deploying urgent resources to curb this catastrophe. Sign up now -- European Heads of State meet in 24 hours and then G20 leaders meet in Brisbane and key negotiators have agreed to take our call straight into the talks.
