The Global Climate March
Roughly 500 people from all walks of life marched from Harvard Square in Cambridge to the Massachusetts State House in Boston. There was so much energy it was hard to contain! Police were very cooperative and it felt very empowering to exercise our democratic rights. After gathering outside the State House and saying some chants, we had three speakers (including a reverend who's a climate activist and a scientific expert who will be heading to Paris) address the crowd. Hillary Clinton was also at Faneuil Hall this day, so after we disbanded many activists headed there next with their signs to demonstrate.
What will happen at the event?
To help, please call your local town selectman and representatives and invite them to this - we want to make sure the people representing us in our communities hear our voice!
Also, please feel free to create your own signage. If you want to make your own signs at home, you may wish to download messages, images, logos, etc. at: 350.org (Go to Resources --> Materials and Digital. Under "Digital" there's a sign-maker. I can also send you samples to print. And by all means, come up with your own witty tag lines!
NOTE CHANGE FROM ORIGINAL LOCATION AND TIME.
March from Harvard Square to Boston Common. Meet at the plaza near Au BonPain. We will march in solidarity with the people of the planet along Mass. Ave., over the Longfellow Bridge, then down Charles Street to Boston Common opposite the State House, where we'll congregate for a photograph.
Please spread the word, invite local organizations, politicians, etc... Let's make this a big event to show a strong message to our leaders in Paris: keep fossil fuels in the ground!
This event is part of the Global Climate March. On November 30th, world leaders meet in Paris to start negotiating the next global climate deal. That’s why, the day before, people around the world will take to the streets and push leaders at every level of government to commit to 100% clean energy. Together, we can push the world towards a climate deal that gets us off dirty energy and unleashes clean energy for all. Let's make history -- RSVP on the right for this Global Climate March event!
