We were shocked to see ads for illegal Israeli settlements on Facebook. The establishment and expansion of settlements is considered a war crime. Settlements are a main cause of violence and discrimination in the region. Facebook's advertising guidelines state that "Ads may not constitute, facilitate or promote illegal activity." We therefore call upon you to ban all advertisements for settlement homes or settlement based products from showing on Facebook.

Facebook: Ban settlement ads
Facebook is running a series of ads for real estate deals in illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank. I saw an ad on Facebook for real estate in a settlement built on land stolen from my grandmother. If I even walk near it, I could be killed or arrested. It’s outrageous and we need to let Facebook know.

Thousands of Israelis and Palestinians have received similar Facebook ads offering homes in settlements, which are located on land stolen from Palestinian families like mine. Settlements are illegal under international law, and they're symbols of deep segregation. Palestinians are prohibited from living in them. The social network giant’s terms of service say that advertising illegal goods is prohibited and the company has a history of pulling ads that get negative feedback. Let's hold them to their word and call them out for running these shameful ads.
