For an independent and transparent glyphosate evaluation
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has opened a consultation to evaluate the safety of glyphosate. But there’s a risk that it could rely too much on industry inputs, ignoring independent studies and concerns of a hundred top scientists. Let’s ensure ECHA’s boss Geert Dancet knows how many people expect a fully transparent and thorough review that puts our health and environment first.

Use the tool on the right to send a message to Dancet and his senior staff before they pin details of the review next week. Here are a few points you could include, but the more personal you make it, the better. Please remember to stay polite:
  • I am one of 2 million citizens who have signed a petition calling on you to ensure that your review of glyphosate is “transparent, based on independent studies, and evaluated by independent researchers without conflicts of interest”.
  • I urge you to go beyond business as usual and help restore public faith in the EU. This requires a process that adheres to the highest scientific standards and recognises the extraordinary interest in glyphosate.
  • As recommended in an open letter by 94 top scientists, your assessment should include all studies used in the International Agency for Research on Cancer's report, and all studies you cite should be available for public scrutiny.
  • This assessment will define your and ECHA’s reputations, and have tremendous consequences for us and our environment: we look forward to hearing details of how you will conduct this review, and to seeing your results.
