Pakistan: End "forgiveness" for honour killing

To Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain and all Pakistani Parliamentarians:

We urge you to immediately pass the Anti-Honor Killings Laws (Criminal Laws Amendment) Bill 2014 in the Parliament, and make sure all perpetrators of honour killings are brought to justice. We also urge the government to launch a major education campaign to spread awareness about the consequences of committing such brutal crimes against women.

Pakistan: End "forgiveness" for honour killing
On her wedding day, Saba’s father shot her in the head, dumped her in a bag and threw her in a river for daring to marry the man she loved.

More than 1,000 women are murdered every year in Pakistan in “honour” killings. Despite being illegal, few women see justice because of a fatal legal loophole -- an outrageous "forgiveness" clause allows murderers to walk free as long as a family member forgives them!

Miraculously, Saba survived but was forced to “forgive” her attackers. Her incredible fight is now an Oscar-nominated documentary, and the global spotlight has moved Pakistan’s Prime Minister to pledge for the first time to end honour killings!

In 5 days, this powerful film will be screened for the PM in Islamabad. If we can build a massive global call to make honour killing unforgivable, we will deliver our voices directly to the PM and all of Pakistan’s parliamentarians! Sign now and share this widely.
