Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley of the Metropolitan Police: Stop female genital mutilation in London

In the UK it is estimated that 20,000 young girls will be horribly mutilated every year through FGM. Many thousands of these will be in London but there has yet to be a single successful prosecution in the UK for this horrific crime whilst in France there have been 100. The Metropolitan Police is the most influential police service in the UK, where the MPS leads, others will follow. AC Mark Rowley has the resources to make a major impact upon this crime in London but these dreadful figures would indicate that the MPS has lacked the will to make this a priority. How can we let thousands of young girls be put through agony and permanently mutilated and yet seem to turn a blind eye? I appeal to AC Mark Rowley, please stop thousands of young girls being mutilated on your watch and set an example that the rest of the UK will follow.
