Save the Wild Tiger & Forests of Kodagu(Coorg)
Less than 3000 Tigers left in the wild-NO one can confirm. In 5 years we might NOT have any Wild Tigers left in the wild due to poaching and habitat loss.
On the Indian subcontinent, where the largest tiger population persists, only about 10 precent of original habitat remains in an increasingly fragmented and often degraded state. Tigers are a conservation dependent species, requiring large continuous forests with access to water and undisturbed core areas in which to breed
We need to act now - help save the forests of Kodagu & the wild Tiger.
The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) is currently underway to put a 400kv high-tension power line passing through the forests close to the Rajeev Gandhi Tiger Reserve (Nagarhole), paddy fields, coffee plantations and disturb and displace the native populations who have made this place their homes from last thousands of years.
This will see as many as 50000+ trees felled and any human interference in the highly sensitive western Ghats ecological zone will be catastrophic to the flora and fauna leading to man-animal conflict.
Solution: Declare Kodagu an Eco-Sensitive Zone.
From this Project perspective-Power Line can be taken underground without felling any trees/seek an alternate route to lay the power line
