Chinese government: Stop unlawful reef reclamation and militarization in the South China Sea.

This is important for many reasons: free trade access through the South China Sea; cessation of destruction of coral reefs; allowing fishermen of other nations access to rich marine areas; respect for the 200 nautical mile economic zone of nations under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); avoiding militarization of this waterway; peace and stability in the region and harmony among nations. The problem is that China claims sovereignty over the whole South China Sea with its 9-dash line and is using its military might to force its unlawful reclamation, occupation and militarization of many reefs, a number of which are in the West Philippine Sea inside the economic zone of the Philippines. The UN Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague has recently ruled in favor of the Philippines and against China, but China has rejected this and will not abide by it. The solution is for China to drop its spurious claim to the whole South China Sea and stop building artificial islands and militarizing the area. Then this whole region, instead of being destabilized and events leading to war (the USA has major interests in the area), can become a region of peace, stability and prosperity for all.
