Ann and Margaret Kennedy have rare conditions necessitating power wheelchairs. Age 61 they find walking extremely difficult due to muscle myopathy , muscle wasting. They need better support for their whole body, tilt facilities and headrest on wheelchairs. Due to arthritis and spinal / hip difficulties the present wheelchairs given by the HSE are causing extreme pain and distress. They are on morphine patches for pain. It is hugely important the Kennedy twins have quality of life that is pain and distress free as they live with a progressive neuromuscular disease requiring powered wheelchairs . Appropriate powered wheelchairs are urgently needed. What is presently supplied is a gross denial of freedom from suffering and distress.
