Currently only men can rape. Yes you heard that right. In English law only men can commit rape. This is an incredible injustice. Simply because you haven't got a penis does not mean you cannot rape someone. Men who are raped by women are often ridiculed and seen as not serious victims. This can make the process of starting to get over rape even harder than it would be if the law was on your side. This also means that if a women rapes another women unless she happens to have a penis then it isn't rape. It is listed a sexual assault meaning that the rapist will get a much shorter sentence. This draconian view of rape has to stop and a good way to stop it would be to make sure that the law is changed as is the definition of rape within the British legal system.
