EU Citizens Rights Under Imminent Threat At TTIP Negotiations in Brussels!
The Transatlantic Trade & Industry Partnership (TTIP) is an initiative on behalf of the United States government and 600 of America's largest corporations, that seeks to quash existing EU legislation in such vital areas as Agriculture, Employment, Intellectual Copyright and Drug Safety. The agenda of the TTIP is clear, even as the content of the discussions are being kept top secret: to force the EU to accept GMO seeds, crops and increased pesticide use, to guarantee immunity from legal prosecution to companies like Monsanto, to weaken privacy and data protection laws, and to remove so-called trade barriers that would result in a further erosion of citizens' rights. The second meeting of the TTIP will take place in Brussels on October 7th, 2013. We still have time to petition EU representatives to express our concern about the very real threat represented by these clandestine talks, and to urge them to act decisively to uphold the integrity of our legal system, the well-being of our citizens and the health of the environment.
Please send an email to the EU Commission! A complete list of negotiators can be found here: http://trade.ec.europa.eu/doclib/press/index.cfm?id=950
