Government of Canada
We, the undersigned, as citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and build a memorial to "Truth and Reconciliation" to honour survivors and all the children who were lost to their families and communities from the residential school system.

We ask the Government of Canada to build this important memorial instead of the "National Memorial to Victims of Communism" slated for this area by Harper as it does not represent Canada's history.

Building this memorial in Ottawa will support one of the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

In addition, we ask that this memorial share the land with the originally planned Pierre Elliott Trudeau Judicial Building, a building that would complete the judicial triad.

Placing the Truth and Reconciliation Memorial next to the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Judicial Building will act as a visual reminder for the judiciary to enact the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

As Canada’s Judicial Precinct belongs to all Canadians, Canadians should be able to determine which memorial and buildings should be placed on this public land.

We therefore ask that the Government of Canada cancel the plans for "The National Memorial to Victims of Communism" slated for this area.
