H.E. Mr.Sam Kahamba Kutesa,President,General Assembly of the United Nations
This Petition is to show international support from just some of the millions of people who use homeopathy in their daily lives so that the United Nations will appreciate its high esteem and popularity and observe an annual World Homeopathy Day on the 10th April, the birth date of Dr Samuel Hahnemann the founder of homeopathy.

Homeopathy has gone global: it has been used effectively for over two hundred years by millions of people in over 80 countries, with legal recognition as an individual system of medicine in 42 countries. For example: “There has been a 60% growth in the homeopathic market in Europe over 10 years (1995-2005); 90% of homeopathic products are consumed by France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, UK and Poland.” “100 million patients across the EU choose homeopathy.” In Brazil there are approx 17,000 homeopaths, and in Mexico there are 5 homeopathic medical colleges. Homeopathy is taught and practised all over the African continent: Benin, Botswana, Ethiopia, Egypt, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Uganda. Homeopathy is now being taught in hundreds of universities, academies, colleges and schools, and through e-learning, around the world.

The World Health Organization has stated that “the use of homeopathic medicines has spread more and more, and nowadays it is widespread not only in the European region but also in south Asian countries and North and South American countries. […]”

Homeopathy is currently acknowledged as a significant integrated medicine in individualised patient health and is part of the world’s health agenda. The practice and use of homeopathy continues to grow exponentially worldwide. Some of the highly dilute medicines in homeopathy’s materia medica are now part of the cutting edge of contemporary research. Scientific studies and research on the effectiveness of homeopathy proliferate. International testimonials to the helpfulness of homeopathic remedies continue to multiply. It is evident that correctly prescribed homeopathic remedies can have positive effects on the health and wellbeing of humanity; the professional practice and appropriate use of homeopathy is an increasing social and humanitarian issue.

This observance of an annual World Homeopathy Day on the 10th April would contribute to the achievement of the purposes of the UN Charter to promote awareness of, and action on, important social and humanitarian issues – in this case, homeopathy. Please sign.
