The City of Regina announced Friday evening April 7th, a number of revenue changes and program reductions necessitated by the provincial government budget.

Of the many program reductions was the proposal to close the Leslie Lawn Bowling Greens for a savings of $65,300.00.

This is devastating news for citizens of Regina. Lawn Bowling has been an active sport in Regina for more than 100 years. It is one of only 3 clubs in Canada with 4 greens, making it an enviable facility for national competitions. The facility allows for the RLBC to provide recreational and competitive programs to its members. There is a long history of club members winning Canadian Championships and also competing internationally. The Club even boasts a World Champion.

Over 1000 high school students participate in the school program each year. In addition, many corporate and public groups use the facility.

The closing of the Leslie Lawn Bowling Greens would be a major loss for Regina citizens. Being the only facility for lawn bowlers in Regina, there would be no other option to continue with this sport. There would be devastating impacts provincially and nationally.

It is important to continue to maintain the Leslie Lawn Bowling Greens in Regina. Please show your support for the continuance of this facility by signing this petition.

Please share this petition with your family and friends.

Thank you for your support.
