Governor Inslee - Block the oil time-bomb!
Caroline D.
started this petition to
Jay Inslee, Governor of Washington State (USA)
Powerful companies want to build a monstrous oil terminal
near the beautiful Columbia river. The local tribes who have fished there for centuries are leading the fight back, and if we act fast we can supercharge them through to a win.
The oil-by-rail terminal would create a high-volume destructive fossil fuel corridor running through the wilderness and drive an oil tanker-sized hole through the Paris climate deal. Local tribes are united against a deal that would see “bomb trains” threaten their lands -- trains like these have exploded elsewhere with deadly consequences. They are calling on Washington State Governor Inslee to block the deal, which would carry half the volume of the massive Keystone pipeline campaigners blocked just last year.
This should be a no-brainer for the Governor, who wrote a book about clean technology and pledged climate action at the Paris summit. But with reckless industrialists trumpeting the benefits, it’s up to us to drown them out so he knows the world has his back. Add your voice now:
