To: The Embassy of Sweden in Turkey-Ankara and Swedish Migration Agency

Dear Sir or Madam, Laleh Mohammadi has left Iran in order to save her life. Laleh Mohammadi is one of the activists of the Iranian left opposition who had to flee the country. On 21st June 2013 she applied for asylum from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Ankara, Turkey. On 22nd January 2015 UNHCR recognized her as a refugee under the 1951 Geneva Convention. Laleh Mohammadi and her husband Shayan Meshkinghalam should have been transferred to the third country by now. It has been three and half years but we still have not heard anything back from any country.

Iran Is not a Safe Country.
Ms. Mohammadi and her family have worked for the rights of workers, children and women for many years in Iran. They said no to the situation that Islamic Republic brought to Iran and for that reason two of her family members were executed and the rest of them had to leave the country and seek asylum in different countries. As you already know, protesting and working towards human right goals is a crime in Iran and people go to jail and some get hanged for that reason. A lot of political protesters are now in Iran's prisons and are passing sentences that are unfair. Laleh Mohammadi would have been in the same situation due to false accusations and would have had to serve long sentences if she hadn’t left the country. Her only possibility by then would have been going on hunger strike as Atena Daemi and Golrokh Irayi* did which means a slow decline of herself. In summary, Iran is hell to political activists who are working against the regime.

Being a Refugee Is not a Crime!
Due to danger of her life Laleh Mohammadi has left her home and country in order to save her life and to build up a new one in another country. In Turkey citizens get verdicts based on religious laws and religion is becoming more and more involved in government rulings. Having said that , based on the current situation of Turkey which means that the prisons are full of socialist and human right activists, it’s not safe for a human right activist from another country to seek asylum here.

Life in Security Is the Right of Every Human Being!
More than five years of living in Turkey's woeful conditions has caused a lot of psychological damage to Laleh Mohammadi and her husband. For last year she has received several threatening calls from the Iranian Secret Service. These threats were written and verbally reported to UNHCR but without receiving an acknowledgement which is why Laleh Mohammadi and her husband feel insecure and desperately helpless

Dear Sir or Madam, Laleh Mohammadi has family and relatives residing in Sweden and this is why we are asking for your help to bring Laleh and her husband to Sweden so she can live in the great country with peaceful citizens and can be a contributor to this society.
We, who signed this letter, really appreciate your help and consideration.
