No baby should ever eat in a toilet!

An internationally acclaimed Human Rights Lawyer has penned 2 Bills, to protect moms who nurse in public from the incessant harassment they have to deal with. The Breastfeeding Bill is to ensure that babies get optimal care and nutrition, without their mothers living in fear of being mocked or shamed into feeding in a toilet. Our Department of Health has enshrined our children's right to be breastfed into our constitution, however South Africa's breastfeeding rates are shockingly low. Only 8% of mothers are exclusively breastfeeding their babies until they are six months old. Sign this petition, to ensure it becomes a criminal act to harass a breastfeeding mom when she's out and about. Offenders will be arrested, processed and face a fine of up to R10 000. Help us to create a society where uninformed people's sensitivities to a baby attached to a breast, is less important than caring for our children's needs!

PLEASE NOTE: Due to a bug in Avaaz's tech, the title of this petition cannot be edited. The minister of Women in South Africa is indeed the honourable Ms Susan Shabangu. Sorry for the error, we are working on getting support from Avaaz to fix it!
