NTSA, Inspector General of Police of Kenya
In the last six months, there has been an increase in incidents of armed robbers taking advantage of the peak traffic hours on highways such as Waiyaki way, Uhuru highway and Mombasa road. From first hand accounts shared on social media, it appears these robberies usually take place during the late afternoon to evening traffic hours. Some of these robberies end up with fatalities. All this happens in plain view and with other cars and traffic police in the vicinity. We implore you to please put measures in place to ensure the safety of road users, especially during peak traffic hours. Traffic is unavoidable in Nairobi, especially during this rainy season, therefore, this makes us more vulnerable to these group of armed robbers.
