Cognizant “ Illegally Terminates “ 6000&plus Employees

LAYOFF …” the word hits the panic button in IT industry. Now it's turn of Cognizant Technology Solutions to terminate their employees branding them as “Under performers”. But we wonder how performance could be measured with the current Appraisal system in effect. Until a transparent appraisal system is in place, it will not be possible to measure the performance in IT industry. Layoffs, Involuntary attrition or any other jargon literally means demolition of livelihood of IT Workforce. Yes, it is not only 6000&plus employees affected, but 6000&plus families.

Significance of the petition

Cognizant Technology Solutions ‐ CTS has started forcing their employees to resign. This process of forceful resignation has been the story in all the Cognizant campuses for past 3 weeks. The main target for this illegal termination process is to reduce the number of middle level employees in the organization. It is being executed with the notion of “ Removing Underperformers” ‐ which is totally against the actual fact. With the insider information, Cognizant might extend this plan to terminate 20000 employees Illegally.

Employees with ‐
  • Ranking of “ Meets Expectations ”,
  • Allocation to Resource Pool i.e. “ Bench” for sometime
are the most affected Employees in this situation. But Cognizant Technology Solutions growth projection in previous quarter has been good and still does recruit Engineers into the company.

This current situation is comparable to the layoffs that happen in Tata Consultancy Services in 2014. TCS then planned to layoff more than 25000 employees and it was stopped by collective fight of IT employees in various cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Trivandrum, Pune, Mumbai & Hyderabad.

It's now again the employee’s turn to fight against the IT major “Cognizant” which is least concerned about the livelihood of employees who worked day & night for the growth of Cognizant Technology Solutions.

In the name of Job creation, IT Majors received lot of subsidies in the form of Land, Electricity, Water, Tax exemptions from the Government of India and from all the States. But when it comes to illegal termination of the Employees, neither the Central Government nor the State Governments comes to rescue of Employees.

As a collective of IT Employees, “Forum for I.T. Employees" demands the Government of India which vouches more on development to intervene in this matter without any delay further.

We demand,

Stop the illegal termination of Cognizant Employee's with immediate effect.

Reinstate all the affected employees

Restore the normalcy in work environment affected by illegal terminations.

Create the opportunity to re&dashskill the Employee’s skill as per the current trend.
