Honor the Treaties... Return the Black Hills

Members of the United States Congress, President of the United States of America
"Given the grievous oppression spanning centuries which includes the violation of treaties, seizure of land and resources, removal of families and whole communities by any means including brutality; the list can go on and on... "
"We must do more to heal and right the injustice done to all the Indigenous Peoples of the Earth, which includes to restore control over Lands the Native Americans consider to be Sacred and duly Rightfully theirs."
By setting precedent, The United States Supreme Court (the Judicial Branch of government) ruled in 1980 that the seizure of the land was illegal and ordered the government to pay compensation, but, the money was rejected and demands continue for the return of the now public lands which are in direct violation of the Treaty of Fort Laramie (1868). In this treaty, signed on April 29, 1868, between the U.S. Government and the Sioux Nation, the United States recognized the Black Hills as part of the Great Sioux Reservation, set aside for exclusive use by the Sioux people.

This is a clip from an interview on The Dick Cavett Show. In 1973 Marlon Brando turned down his best actor Oscar award in protest on how Hollywood misrepresents Indigenous people. To see full interview go to YouTube and type in Marlon Brando Interview 1973. In the first 44 seconds of part 2 where he speaks of the Children is quite profound, touching and says volumes.

James Anaya, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples recommendations include advising the U.S. to return some land to Native American tribes, including South Dakota's Black Hills... "The indigenous peoples of this country ... suffer from poverty, poor health conditions, lack of attainment of formal education [and] social ills at rates that far exceed those of other segments of the American population," Anaya says. "These conditions are related to a history of wrongs that they've suffered."

please help by signing, confirming signature and sharing... whereas we may never be able to right such a wrong, we can certainly make the effort for the better by allowing the healing and reconciliation process to begin and effectively ending this erroneous, invalid and false concept of "manifest destiny" and "eminent domain"...
