In recent years, the Surabaya Zoo has become notorious for its appalling conditions and the inhumane treatment of its animals. Before, in 2012, the Associated Press reported that approximately 15 animals at the zoo were dying every month! due to preventable diseases, starvation, lack of exercise and overcrowding. An unbelievable thing also found when a 30-year-old Giraffe died with an 18-kilogram wad of plastic in its stomach. Not only that, a Sumatran tiger also died after being fed meat laced with formaldehyde (according to the Jakarta Post).
Till today, it's about more than 30 animals were reported died. And during the period of 3 months starting from January to March 2014, the number of animals that died reached 12 animals. Looking at the sad situations that happens to the animals in KBS, we should do something to help the animals and call on the honorable President of Republic of Indonesia to mandate the following actions immediately:
1. to conduct an investigation about the animals' death and give retribution to the responsible party;

2. to increase funding and security to ensure all animals receive the proper foods, and medical attention necessary;

3. to provide a feasible rehabilitation for any animal, in purpose to make them could survive in the wild;

4. to close the Surabaya Zoo if the three options above not possible to do.

If we cant help the animals to get a decent life, then how we could save the earth for our next generation?
