The corrupt CEO of SEB (Sarawak Energy Berhad), Torstein Dale Sjotveit of Norway, is going to destroy Malaysia's beautiful and diverse Sarawak rainforest by planning to build many mega dams in the state of Sarawak. This will displace thousands of indigenous people from their ancestral homeland. For example one of the proposed dams, the Baram dam will flood an area of 412 km². It will submerge more than 26 long houses, the houses of the indigenous people, displacing more than 20,000 people. According to the corrupt, government controlled Borneo Post, a government elected representative from Telang Usan is claiming that the majority of the local people are welcoming this dam, which is obviously an influenced lie.

Not only will this ruin human lives, but there is the inevitably devastating consequences it will have on the river Eco-systems, and the diverse rainforest. The flora and fauna, e.g the Semah fish which is already heading towards extinction. The unnatural floods will without a doubt kill everything in its reach. Not only the wildlife, but the culture of the local people will drown with it.

Torstein is currently waiting for a green light from the greedy and corrupt Sarawak state government. This will most likely be given unless we can get the people of the world to pressure the Malaysian government into embarrassment and to make the hospitable country they are, also a country that will take responsibility for protection of its people and put a stop to this exploitation. The local people are trying their best to stop this. We have already protested at the office of the chief minister, the IHA convention in Kuching and other major towns around the state. We have even traveled far to parliament in Kuala Lumpur. Our last stand is to prevent the SEB and it's many contractor's vehicles from reaching the dam site. Our government won't listen to our desperate demands to stop these dams, PLEASE people of the world express your disappointment in the Malaysian government by signing this petition that will spread our hopes for a green and healthy future of Sarawak!
