Sundarbans is the largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world where endangered Royal Bengal Tigers, Estuarine Crocodile, Northern river terrapins, Gangetic Dolphin, Pythons and many other threatened species are found -- but this wildlife sanctuary will be destroyed if our voice is not heard by UNESCO World Heritage and Ramsar Secretariats and PM of Bangladesh in taking necessary steps to save this unique habitat.

At the moment the local government in Bangladesh is planning to develop a coal based power plant in a very environmentally sensitive area which is so close to Sundarbans. And it looks like that national Forestry Ministry will approve this suicidal project unless the UNESCO World Heritage and Ramsar Secretariats and our honorable Prime Minister steps in to reject this destructive plan.

We know that the Prime Minister is concerned about environmental issues, but we need to tell her that green reputation will bring glory for our country by taking the right decision at the right time. We need to act fast -- sign the urgent petition and tell every person about this deadly threat to our magnificent forest. If a million people sign in the next 7 days, we hope the Prime Minister hears us!
