The Labour Party: Demand the resignation of Richard Howitt MEP

The Labour Party
On the 27th September, Richard Howitt MEP produced absolutely repugnant lies about alleged UKIP policy. On his Twitter, he stated that 'UKIP says abort disabled children, put people w/ learning diffs in camps & bans disabled candidates', citing only 'shar.es/1aAemy'.
After many hours of Twitter users calling the MEP out, he only reaffirms his stance with 'As I said before refs are in the piece'.
It should also be noted that people who have attempted to contact the Labour Party to complain about these remarks have been told that the party 'is not responsible for the comments made by its members'.
Rather than simply calling for the removal of the Tweet, this petition calls for the resignation of Richard Howitt for the utter shame that he brings to British politics, as well as the fact that he disgracefully stands his ground when called on by hundreds of other Twitter users.
Smear campaigns cannot be tolerated in this country as they only cloud the truth from voters and the public alike. Thus if the Labour Party would like to retain any dignity, they would accept the signatures of all in this petition and demand a resignation immediatey.
