The Prime Minister Mr.Tony Abbott: Stop the slaughter of ex-racehorses in Australia

Over 10,000 ex-racehorses are slaughter annually in Australia for the pet food industry. The racehorse industry is callously breeding too many horses to serve the interests of big business, big gaming and the race clubs where it is simply all about wagering. There is no concern for the welfare of the horse. This is exploitation of the worse type where race horses are " flogged " on the race tracks and then cruelly abandoned to suffer a terrible fate where many are shot at nearly point blank range, It is cruel.It is abominable and a stop has to be made. Australia that prided itself once on being a nation of horsemen where the horse was once part of the national psyche has become nothing but a cruel joke perpetrated on the ex-racehorses if this country.
